Question about eggs

frostbite Feb 10, 2005 11:58 AM

Hello

Just have a question about eggs. My baby (she is only 2 ˝ years old) just pushed out 26 eggs last night. I think she is done. I’m going to take to the vet this weekend for X-rays and an examination just to make sure. I’m just wondering if 26 is the usual number or if she is going to have more. She seemed to get her appetite back now and eating on her own so no more force-feeding. She looks and behaves like her old self now.

Thank you for your replies.

sorry this isnt the reply you were looking for. I just had a question dealing with the same thing. My friends iguana laid 25 eggs a couple days ago. we have them incubating right now at the correct temps and humidity. Is there a way to tell if the eggs are fertile or not with out having to make a trip to the vet? Also I was wondering how long after the actuall mating its self until the female lays her eggs? (i caught my male and female getting along quite well last night) Thank you

Females can store sperm for future use, so the time varies. But it's not overnight.

What do you plan to do if some of the eggs hatch? Ten iguanas will be hard to find homes for.

The pet store in my area is willing to purchase some from me and I have a lot of friends that are looking for one.

An ig can lay from one or two eggs to fifty eggs. It's good to have a vet check for tetained eggs, which will cause peritonitis.

You force fed her? IMO that is not necessary unless the iguana is emaciated.
