My 20 gallon terrarium for my little Madagascar ground gecko is heated 24 hrs. by a UTH, but I also use a 50 Watt Daylight bulb, for ambient air temp. as well as the slight UV it provides (I know they are nocturnal and some say they do not require UV, but in my personal opinion I think almost every living thing benefits from UV). At night I use a 50 Watt bluelight, which hangs from the ceiling and is about 2 ft. above his terrarium, so it doesn't provide much heat, just more or less a viewing light.
The night temp. is good, the warmer side is about 80ish and the cooler side is between 73 and 78. My herp room is pretty warm as it is due to the other terrariums, between 80 and 85 during the day - right now it's winter, and I live up north in Canada
. But my question is this..during the day, my cooler side is between 80 and 87ish, but the warm side is kind of high - between 93 and 99ish. Is this too high for him? They should be kept at temp. between 80 to 85 during the day, but I can't find any info. about a "warm side" and a "cool side" for these cuties. Just don't wanna cook the little guy
