bearded with MBD

halo73 Feb 10, 2005 03:08 PM

Ive had my bearded for almost 2 years now. When i got her from the pet store she had missing toes, tip of her tail missing, and it appears to be MBD. She is doing really well and her MBD problem doesnt seem to slow her down at all. Now Im wondering if because the fact that she is handycapped, is her life span gonna be shorter?

Metabolic bone disease doesn't stay around (from what I know). They get it...it causes problems, and if you treat it it goes away. My dragon almost had it and he also started getting kidney disease (too many crickets, not enough good hydrating veggies). I treated him with fluid therapy and he's been fine ever since.

I'm guessing it was just a mild case, if it was that at all. Why do you think/know he had it?

Im pretty sure she got it from the lack of UVB light at the pet store. Her left front foot is messed up but she still uses it as if it were normal.
