getting a Tokay Gecko

antares Feb 10, 2005 06:46 PM

I want to get one of the Tokay Geckos at a petstore near me because it looks underfed and I'd like to give it a good home, (I'd get all 3 if I could). So far I've planned to get a 20 gallon tall tank, a 100 watt heating bulb and a small mister system. I'd put coconut bark on the bottom with some branches for him to climb on.

Does this sound like an approriate setup for one Tokay? I've never had one before and I've been reading care sheets for the past few days. I'd just like to know I'm going to do it right before getting the little guy.

Any tips I could get from people with Tokay experience would be great. Thanks.

I would not so that.
You can keep tokays in soe boxes or 20 g tanks since they are hardy.
But better is to go for 65 g and up. Minimum height should be 3 ft. Branches will hardly be used. You need a fake rock or bark backwall with lots of vertical hidings.
