Pure Hog Islands will stay fairly small. My 3 yr old male is less than 4 1/2' and around 3 lbs. My adult female is around 4yrs and 6 1/2' and about 10 lbs. The major size difference is not length but mass. Hogs's are much more diminutive compared to colombians.
Here lies the problem, many of the Hogs available today are crossed or from mainland Honduras. These animals will not always be larger but do have a tendency to be more robust. There is no real way to tell except to ask for lineage from a reliable source.

It is my opinion, that even though they are relativly small boas...they still need the same size cage. I would use no less than the standard boa breeder cage for a full grown hog. That would be 4'long x 2' deep x 12" to 18" high . Hogs love to crawl around and are more prone to getting nose rubs if they feel confined. Also give more cage furniture so they can investigate more. Hope this helps. Andy
Thanx for all the info...i've been looking into getting some type of boas, something in the smaller range as i live most of the year in a college dorm, so the 4'x2' cage is the biggest i could really fit...i really liked the way hogs look and thier small size is reall a plus...i've also been looking at rainbow boas or any other smaller boas but havent really made up my mind yet...
