All of the mealworms and superworms they sell at Petco and Petsmart are kept in sawdust.

Anyway, to the original person who started this thread: you should be gutloading your mealworms (feeding them with real food) before you offer them to your geckos instead of feeding the mealworms straight out of the sawdust. It makes them more nutritious for the geckos.

I feed my mealies the same cricket mix I feed my crickets. I crush up puppy food, fish flakes, Pablum (baby cereal), dried milk, wheat germ & spiriluna, plus the occasional fresh fruits & veggies. I also give them cricket gel. I just sprinkle it on the bottom of a large tupperware container then put the mealies in it along with the bran flakes they come in. There is an awesome recipe for cricket on The Gecko Spot Leopard Gecko Care Sheet

Sawdust can cause impactions, i have seen it kill a few poor little creatures.

Quick tip, the easiest way to get the mealies out of the sawdust so you can put them into a sperate container is to get a screen lid, or a sieve if you have one and dump the container onto the lid over a trash can and shake it. All the sawdust falls through and you are left with mealies without having to pick through them!
