I don't own a GTP, but I want to some day. Right now I'm just enjoying looking at the pictures on this site. I am missing something though. What is a Biak? ARU? I've seen these several times and I can't figure out what they stand for....lol. This isn't an urgent question, but I'd appreciate some help so I don't feel like such a dumbass when I'm reading these threads

Sorry no1 has answered yet, the forums have been kind of dead. The main difference its that they are from different localities.
*The "arus" tend to have a blunt tail and turn most of the time fully green with white scales scattered through the body with some blue traits as well.(they are from the Aru islands in New Guinea.
*THe "biaks" tend to have a longer tail tip (lure) which turns black as they mature. Biaks, most of the time will be green with yellow blotches along the body and some white scales as well. There are 3 different type of biak bellies ive seen in my experience, black scaled bellies, yellow scaled bellies, and some blue scale bellies.
I hope this was some help, if not visit the signalherp.com website which shows you specific locations on map and how the snakes from those lacalityes look like, or just drop me an email

Thanks, I actually came across that website that you gave me right after I made my first post. I looked around on Google for awhile before I asked that, but all I could find were references to both, but not what they actually meant. I'm a corn snake guy (which is why I'm waiting a loooong time to get a GTP...lol) and I'm used to everything being abbreviated in some way or another, so I figured that those names stood for something with the color. You learn something new every day I guess...

No prob dude, just ask anything else you want to, thats why were here in these forums, mainly to help newcomers have a successful GTP. I know everyone says this, but if you are really interested in the species,a great walk through for the whole keeping and breeding etc...is Greg Maxwell's book.Another great forum i can advise is the morelia viridis forum in ezboard.com.
