Blue-eyed Leucies, anyone?

CrestedGecko.com Feb 11, 2005 08:04 AM

Well, this just keeps getting better and better. I checked out my breeders this morning and found a pair of Mojaves locked up! I purchased 2.1 late '03s from Eric Sandoval (thanks Eric!) and they've been the most consistent eaters I have. The female weighs about 2000 grams and both males are around 800 grams. The males have bred 9 different normals already, but they haven't bred with the female Mojave until now. Hopefully, things will go well and I'll have some icy blue eyes staring out at me from inside the incubator sometime later this year. Wish me luck!

I don't think it'll be fair if you produce one before I do. Seriously though congrats it looks like your going to have a great season.

Garrick,
Very very sweet... But isn't there some health risk in power feeding and breeding a female in less than 18 months? Just curious because I have some females that would eat whenever I offer but I control their intake. thanks Ron

I actually didn't go out of my way to power feed her. I fed her one moderate sized meal per week- no more, no less. She just never refused meals. She did grow faster than most balls on a similar diet, though. I've had that happen with other females, too. I feed all of my snakes that are a similar age the same size meal, and it seems that a couple outpace the others by quite a bit. I really didn't plan on breeder her until '06, but with her being so big, I just could help myself!

Contgrats Garrick! Lol Lucies...I'm still trying to get some Albino's. The little het you sent me a while back is doing great. He hasn't refused a meal yet.

I remember when I was a noobie to Ball Pythons - I had no idea about hets or any morphs. Garrick explained everything about hets to me, and answered every other question I asked. To this day, I'm still asking questions about what to buy, what to sell, and just for friendly advice. Garricks the man.

Congrats, and good luck with the Lucies!
