Misting Systems - anybody use them? Are they good, or just a pain?

bugmamma Feb 11, 2005 11:27 AM

Hi all - hope everyone is great today. I'm wondering if anyone uses an automatic mister of any kind, and if so I'd love to know if you are happy with them.

We have abandoned misting all together, especially where multiple animals are in the same enclosure. There are a few reasons for this but chiefly among them is the belief that, in a captive situation, it’s more hygienic for Cresteds to get their water from clean bowls.

So we keep the ambient humidity up with a cool-air humidifier and provide clean drinking water at all times. The Cresteds, even the very small ones, seem to have no trouble finding and utilizing the bowls. You just have to pay particular attention for shed problems if you live in a dryer environment.

I personally do not use them i keep a med. size crested colony (around 30 breeding cresteds) and I just use 3 1gal. spray bottles scattered throughout my "reptile room" and whenever I check on them I give them a tiny spray down and then before I put their food in at night I give them a fairly heavy misting.Overall I would use hand-labor because it gives your hand a good workout.LOL Hope this helped

I'm hoping that n/p means "no post" so that no one will have bothered to open this message...
