Smelly..

Ali-baba Feb 11, 2005 01:53 PM

Do you guys have any methods of making your iguana cages not so smelly? I have my 4.5ft female in my room, and the smell is pretty bad. I was using indoor/outdoor carpeting, but she ignored her litterbox and pooped on the carpet. I switched to newspaper and she moves it aside and poops on the wood. If it goes on like this she'll have to be moved into the garage.

You can tub poop her. Draw about 4 inches of 85 F. water and put her in the bathtub. She'll do her business instinctively. I dip the feces out with an acquarium net and put it in the toilet, and rinse the rest down the drain. Then I use a pump-spray bottle to mist the tub with a 25% solution of bleach and water.

If your ig is tiny, put a cat litter box in the cage and put about 2 inches of water in it, plus a ramp for her to climb out.

I give my Iguana a bath every morning and he poops in the tub. He hasn't pooped in his cage in years. I first shower him until he goes and then fill up the tub with water.
