Blues breeding

viperbitex Feb 11, 2005 05:38 PM

I posted about a month ago, saying that I witnessed my 2 het for albino blues mating. She was 100% more reseptive then last year and the last time that I checked on them that night, he had her on her back...to be more graphic, they were in the missonary position (wierd). Then I hadn't seen or heard them doing it when I posted the last time, and for 3 weeks I didn't handle her at all, just putting fresh water and food in when they were asleep so they didn't see me. I was holding her for the first time 2 days ago and she has the abrasions on the side of her neck that tell me that they have been getting busy a lot more then just for one night. This may be a very dumb question, but I've looked on a few different sites and haven't found a good answer yet. They are mating but will she be able to become gravid out of season?? She is eatting and drinking, but she is VERY lazy. IF she is gravid (fingures crossed!) then she would be about 3 1/2 weeks into it, and she has gained a lot of wait in the past month. She is a sweetheart and usually doesn't mind being handled and has never tried to bite, but now when I pick her up to put her in the shower she squirms and tries to roll. She covered herself in the aspen for 2 days under her heat lamp, only coming out to drink fresh water and to down 2 mice, but then went right back under the aspen and light.

I'm still trying to get my friend to let me borrow his digital so I can FINALLY post some pics. Also I am moving them into a much much bigger tank, and if she is gravid, will this upset her big time??

Did you get my e-mail message back? A larger cage shouldn't do any harm.

Not sure I got your e-mail, but thanks for answering one of my questions. I think I'm going to give them one last week together then I'm going to get her ultra sounded. I'm sure it will be worth it. Thanks again!

How long have they been together breeding? You may want to give her awhile because you may not notice that she's gravid right away (obviously) and the little ones may not show up on the ultra sound.
