I recieved information from a reliable source, to remain unamed.
Last year special permition was granted to bring a few of Wild Hogg Islands into the United States to continue research here that was or could not be done to full capability on the Hog Islands or Honduras.

It was believed that someone involved with this allowed some out, which resulted in the Wild Caught Hog Isle Boas no in future captive breeding programs. However it was done, rightous or not, it was.

After all, our original Hogs, and Longicauda, along with other Boas and many more herps are now established in U.S. captivity because someone brought them here illegally and they were confiscated, going to research facilities and zoos following.

true about longicauda and a couple of other boas all captives are from seized illegal imports, i think the same is true of dum. as much as i hate to these animals be exploted i can over look some indecrisons if it means the only source for new blood or spieces that are otherwise denied to devoted local breeds (if any wants to smuggle true bc ortinni i wont object)

That would mean a very small number of them came in.Not the typical lot of a couple hundred or more.Ive heard less than 100 actually made it here.I guess that whoever has them, will be discreet about it for the time being. This would also strenghten the gene pool.A pool that is being reduced yearly with all the hybrids that are being produced and those being contemplated as we speak.I hope someone is responsible enough to see the intrinsic value along the commercial value.Keep them pure as much that is possible.

I fully agree. Some of the crosses are pretty, but here is the bad part. Female hogs bred by other boas could retain sperm and produce crosses at a later date even if they were bred to a pure hog later on.

Just like when working with fruit flies for genetics, you must have virgin females, they could have been fertilized by the "wrong" type of male.

If someone is going to use hogs for crosses a male should be used. Also, they should not aver be sold as a morph of hog because they are not true Hog Isles. Like wise keeping PURE lines is the most important.

FROM EVERYTHING I HAVE READ THERE HAVENT BEEN ANY HOGS ON THE ISLAND OR IN HONDURAS SINCE THE 80S SO HOW CAN THAT BE TRUE

M is correct. They are making a decent comeback, but will never be allowed to be exported in the same manner as before.
