help hognose suddenly dead

lol jk Iv'e had my hog for about 5 years and this is the first time she has played dead, pulled her out of brumation for a check up and she wasn't happy

ya I was blown away Iv'e always wanted to see them do it. I wish it would have been outside cause I can take way better pics with sunlight. oh well maybe another time

Really great photos! Mine (soon be two year old female) does the cobra thing, hisses and spits, shakes the tail, musks ( I hate the anal gland thing) but has never played dead. Very cool you had the presents of mind to get the camera.

thats one thing I forgot to mention is she was hissing more than she ever hissed before really loud and long, then the next thing I see she flops over dead. she musked to and it was so rank. I almost always have my camera with me it's like attached.

I've played with hognoses off and on for years (mostly wild ones) but never had one play dead. Lots of puffing up, flaring, etc. Watched an eastern throw up a 2-day old toad on a co-worker once.

The only snakes I have ever had play dead on me are the occasional northern ringneck snake...dang things act like they are having an epileptic seizures.
