mattg9979 Feb 12, 2005 10:55 AM

I just wanted to know what everyone used for thermostats in there incubators. I have a hovabator but running out of room quick. Plus you really only could but small containers in there. Thanks

We use a 150 qt igloo cooler enough water bottles or tupper ware containers to fill the bottom and a waterbed heater. Lots of room and we have control of the temps. We put a towel over the water bottles so we could spray it occasionally if the humidity gets too low. E-bay or Goodwill are a good sourse for used water bed heaters. Everything you need in one, heater, probe, temperature control. If your water bottles leak it won't cause you any problems as the heater is designed to be around water. This can be kept anywhere as it is insulated. Have never had a temperature problem with a waterbed heater, unlike some incubators we have used. This one is over 10 years old and never varied more than 1 or 2 degrees.
