do i need a new enclosure? any1 w/ metal cage experience?

spottedragon Feb 12, 2005 12:19 PM

I have two females sizes 16 and 18 inches and still growing. I think they are going to get the full size, they are only 26(?) weeks. i have been moving up their enclosure size and now they are in a 40G breeder. Next year i will be living in a dorm room, good thing is they like to climb on everything... so im thinking about getting an actualy metal cage with the ramp systems. I will hopefully save some floor space in my room and the cage will be taller in turn. The enclosure i'm thinking of is made of metal (i would go with a reptarium, but they are flamable and the dorm people aren't going to like that). I'm hopeing to find one with small enough holes that they can't get through. They are potty trained so i don't have to worry about harsh cleaning. and since the dorm i will most likely be in is closed during breaks, the cage will be easier to transport. I plan on putting a tray down for the substrate to sit in, and a mat under that. does anyone have experience with keeping temps up? any other problems? any advice will be appreciated! Being a future college student, i don't have a lot of money to just through around. Thank You

i heard they dont hold heat weel at all. i would think just stay with the 40 breeder, bc if you get other roomates that like herps you can section off a room or what ever.that is what im hoping to do, weel my roomates probly will like animals bc i want to be a vet.

i really dont think i would recomend using one bc the might noth hold the heat and i think bd would rather have some floor space like the ame as hight. bc rember you need to have like all the branches place on the ground and you need like a food bowl i would say just stay with the 40 bd, i had 3 in my room with my 2 bd and my monitor, so i just put one on a table nxt to my bd so i can keep thigs in it like books so i got ride of a book self made more place for the others,

hope this helps if worts come to worst you by one yopu have it for the summer so you can take them out side hang it on a tree and let them bask out side(dont no where your going tho)
