Thanks for the condolences new feeding method for baby yt's...

I've been having a heck of a time getting these baby yellow-tails started. Stumbled on a new method this weekend.

My freind Marc Frevola who is actually taking care of most of the babies right now came up with this one ... and I tried it on some of the babies I have at my pace too...in all 7 started with this method this weekend.

We are taking f/t chicks, gutting them a bit, and smearing it on the f/t pinky. Then you take a few feathers from the baby and stick them to the f/t pink and...viola...you have a tiny fledgling bird.

It seems to have worked a lot of magic so far.

I have had my best luck over the last three years in getting my little couperi started on 1-day old quail. Then, to wean them on to frozen/thawed fuzzies, I simply smear quail on a dead quail with a few down feathers on the nose of the fuzzy. It isn't long until the little indigos are taking fuzzies straight up. Dean, glad you discovered this method and glad you shared it with other folks. The method you described has worked incredibly well with my stubborn olive python hatclhings.
