terreaium inmates?

darkzel Feb 12, 2005 04:31 PM

Im working on a terreium, and I thought it would be coolto ahve a multi-species set up, with small animals. I have rocks, plants, and a water bowl with a layer f peat moss in a ten gallon tank. its very misty in there. I ahve a chubby frog, who msotly stays buried, and am going to put two house gekos in with him. I was thinkng of adding one more, though, perhaps a tree frog, or some sort of toad who sint so fond or burrowing...
any suggestions as to what would be happy in this enviornment, not grow too big, and not eat the other denizens of the tank?

^_^

Anoles or Firebelly Toads (if access to water is supplied, may go for small lizards)

I heard firebelly toads carry toxins that only other firebelly toads are immune to. I'm not sure if one of your frogs would have to try and eat it or just be near it. Let me know if your guys survive.

i herd that chubby frogs have a little toxic stuff on them as well as fire bellied frogs.i have an anole, tree frog, and house gecko in the same cage.(i found that my tree frog loves his coco-nut hutwith a water bowl ander it)my tree frog loves to b fed by hand.

Most frogs have toxins of some or other withen the skin however it is of minimal concern unless a cage mate attempts to eat it. I would reconsider adding more cage mates as it sounds like you have about as much as a 10 gallon can comfortably enclose.

NOT a good idea-frogs are gluttons by nature, and could eventually eat up your lizards. Mixing species in this fashion is also a very good way to cross contaminate parasites.

Most anoles, for example, have parasites in them. Dropping in the water spreads the joy around.
