Another newbie question for your list, Sara - at what age will my crested's color be fully developed?

bugmamma Feb 12, 2005 04:59 PM

Hey there,

We're unsure of our crested's exact age, but he's just over 20 grams and he seems to still be developing color. Here's our most recent pic below. I know he's not going to be turning into a dalmation or a creamsicle or anything like that, but at some point will he stop changing?

Thanks,

Toni

The "final colors" begin setting in at sexual maturity. At this point, 20g, I'd wager the color is pretty much set.

But, there are "hormonal" changes that could affect the colors later. For example our breeding females at times will be completely drained of color, same for the males. More than once we've found our gorgeous red dalmation male to be a pale gray, uninteresting gecko (aside from red's natural loss of color in the daytime.
