Tiger Carpet Pythons

firefighter2598 Feb 12, 2005 06:41 PM

Maybe Im just a litle misinformed or under-informed but I just saw these animals for the first time. Can someone help me out here? Are these just a Carpet Python morph or are they a seperate species? Will they breed? And finally where can I get them? Thanks

Tiger carpets are a genetic morph of the Morelia spilota mcdowelli or coastal carpet python. They are fertile and have been produced for several years at least. There are also tri-stripe coastals, but these tend to be less precise as far as genetics goes. i.e., the appearence of the offspring is much more variable.
