I'm new to this forum and to owning reptiles as well. I have a ball
python that is a couple of months old. I was feeding it(two live fuzzies) today but it did not eat as usual. It killed the first mouse, then uncoiled from it and left it. It struck into the air in the opposite direction, then struck at himself! Then he struck at the dead mouse and ate it. I wasn't sure why he had struck at himself or what i should have done, so i simply put the next fuzzy in with him as i usually would have done. Before striking it and eating it, he struck at himself again. I have no idea what this means and am not even sure if its something to be worried about, but i won't rest comfortably until i find out if there is something wrong with my snake. Does anyone know why it did this?
Also, he hasn't defecated in about three and a half weeks. I know that snakes can retain their meals for long times. Can anyone tell me how I will be able to tell if he is impacted? I'm going to try giving him a warm bath if he doesn't "go" on his own in the next couple of days.
Thanks
