Wanting to get a new snake for a birthday

well what i would like to do is get a snake for my daughter for her birthday (she is going to be 11)she has came along way with holding the dums. and well she wants a snake of her owner but i would like something that is going to stay a little smaller then the dums because she is a little scared yet of holding the big girl i have and she is about 5 feet long right now. she is holding the smaller ones without a problum and her brother has a ball python. any sugestins would help

Melissa,

Many of the locality boas that stay fairly small are hogg island, sonoran, nicaraguan, and some others. All of these would be a good choice. Also, remember that the males tend to stay smaller, so that may help.

Other options would be to go with something like a sand boa or rosy boa. These may be too small though.

Oh, and remember that it will take a few years to reach adult size, and your daughter will be growing along with the snake. Maybe size won't be quite such an issue in a couple years.
