A Blue maybe able to breed at 9 months but I personally wouldn't recommend it. For example, breeding ball pythons young usually yeilds a small clutch not only for it's first one, but for the rest of it's life (in my experience as well as many others I've spoken with). Not only that but the animals that bred at a younger age usually don't live as long as those which were allowed to mature to and older age. Breeding is a very stressful act especially in blues as they are the most aggressive breeders. I'd rather have an animal that's older and had a nice weight to her. You've never heard of a retired breeder tegu have you? I personally haven't, don't worry to much about an older animal. I don't plan on breeding my albinos till they are a year of age or older. 66% hets may not even be hets. In order to produce 66% hets you need a 2 100% hets. Those bred together will give you hets, albinos and normals. You can't tell the difference between the normals and the hets so they call them all 66% hets. That is there is 66% of a chance that they are a het. You may just be spending a bit more then a normal for a normal, then again if you hit the odds you made out! If infact you breed them and you get albinos that means they are both 100% hets because you have proven them out. 25% of the babies will be albino according to the punnet square. In the past this has proven correct and way off. Some have recieved all albinos, others have recieved no albinos (this is rare). Usually you will get some albinos. I purchased my albinos from ASF this past season and intend to buy more this season! The last I spoke with Bill I was going to pick up some more albinos and hets be he wanted to keep some back from himself so I don't believe he has anymore more available. Please do not quote me on this however and give Bill a call directly at: (305) 926-9750. I'd have to say I highly recommend working with him and I'm looking forward to doing much more business with him in the future!
