Beardie dragon pellets???

TracyG Feb 13, 2005 10:11 AM

Does anyone feed their beardie this and do they like it? I bought some the other day also can you cut back some on the crickets if they are eating this? Just curious I will continue to feed crickets but was wondering if anybody else feeds their beardie this.

Thanks

I feed all my dragons some of these pellets as part of their salads. I use repti-cal pellets. I soak them in water and mix them in with their daily salads for variety.

All my dragons get fed individual diets according to their age, and weight.

I may for a some dragons on the heavy/large side cut back on live feeders if they are eating a lot of the pellets as the pellets have the proteins they would get from live feeders.. If this same dragon was young, and growing or under weight I would feed live foods normally whether he ate the pellets or not..

I've fed my dragons Rep_cal pellets for months now. My female will eat them, but only with her salad, and my male will eat them dry by themself if offered, so it deffinatly varies from dragon to dragon. I've really been able to cut back on crickets and stuff since i've bought Rep-cal pellets, but i still feed them supers and waxies every so often. You just have to make sure u gradually switch them over to the pellets. You don;t want to force your dragon to go cold turkey from live food in one feeding, or else they might boycott you and not eat anything at all.

The Repcal pellets are great and I've been using them on and off for years as well as I know atleast 7 others who use them as well.. the biggest complaint.. and to me the only one I've found.. is there's too much dye! It comes out in the feces and can stain the lizard which you must procede to either wait for it's next shed or in some cases (Reccomend it anyways because if it's stained, then it's obviously been slumming in it's own defecation) scrubbing lightly with warm water and an antibacterial hand soap which helps remove it and get rid of the stench..
yes I seriously hope they lessen that soon, the beardeds take to the stuff like candy.. but it's rediculous when your show dragon is stained and just doesn't look good.

Otherwise, if you have no matter for appearances, use them as either supplements, quick fixes, or staple diets.. either way they're a very good deal and I love their usefullness, dried food is always a must when you run out of feeders and greens.

I use almost nothing, but RepCal pellets. They have all of the nutrients the dragon needs and no parastites. I use waxworms as a treat and to train with. I also give an ocassional piece of banana or broccoli as a treat.
