snake mites and people..?

babystolemydingo Feb 13, 2005 12:31 PM

Ok I had the snake for 5 days until I finally was able to return him.

I keep waking up with red bumps on me. The snake was in our room, and now that its gone I think they are biting me.

Everything Ive ever read about them has never said they bite people though.

Whats gives? All I know is it happened after the snake was brought home!

I've never heard of mites harming people, but I guess I could be wrong. There's also the possiblity that you may have brought home some fleas too.

Yeah they could be fleas, but Im not sure. My dogs & cats are on frontline and in the North East USA the winters are cold, so it usually means limited flea activity. And the fleas die fast if they happen to hop on them.

I really am wondering if its the mites. My fiance has a couple of red marks, my sis had one. I got some on my arms. And it started happening the night I returned the snake. Is it possible the snake had some other mites that do bite people? The mites I seen crawling on him looked off white-ish/yellow-ish.

Maybe they are starving and making me their host? Survival is what its all about after all..

I have no clue lol

I thought mites were species specific? In other words Snake mites aren't necessarily interested in people.

Is this wrong?

Snake mites do not bite people.

Maybe the bumps are phsycosematic...

I guess if you don't mind the brain damage you can leave a couple of pest strips in your room.

"Maybe the bumps are phsycosematic..."

Yeah I dont think so, my fiance has a couple red bumps and my sis came up from CT yesterday and had a red bump on her.

It started after I brought the snake home. But maybe it is fleas from the petstore? But I would imagine my dogs & cats would be itchie too. (they all are on fronline plus)

So im guessing everyone knows for a fact that they dont bite people once their host (the snake) is no longer around? The marks only appear after we are in my room where the snake was.

If it continues, I'm going to fog the house with some bombs.
