You should be able to sex them when they are about 4-6 months old. By the way where did you get you pietschmanni.
Thanks,
Matt
I live in canada,I have a friend who breeds them, right now I have an adult female and two juveniles about 2 inches long.
find out from your friend if he can share any info on what he does to breed them. getting information on the species, as you have probably found out, is difficult to come by. there are a few of us around, including myself, trying to breed the species at the moment with no luck, so any help from those with experience would be awesome.
I'll be sure to extract as much possible info from him the next time we talk about his breeding practices.I know another person who might also have some good info so i'll keep you posted mad.
And thanks for sharing mad, people are quick to help others in this forum and thats great.I posted a few weeks ago about my adult female peitschmanni not eating and constantly wondering around.Well she still kinda wanders a lot but shes quite acrobatic leaping from one branch to another making impressive jumps. As for feeding shes not into chasing the crickets around the tank, she prefers to let them come to her,and if I dangle them in front of her with forceps she snatches them right up.
thanks again
I'm glad your geckos are doing good. I hope you have success breeding these guys we really need some good people breeding them. You're lucky your female will take food from forceps as soon as I open the cage on mine they start running and jumping all over the place trying to get away from me. If you have any questions feel free to email me. By the way I think my female is gravid again, she is super fat. I hope I get some more eggs.
Also one word of advice use a screen cage, it makes all the difference.

A screen cage? You mean all screen, right now I have her in a 20 gallon high with a screen lid?wouldn't all screen be hard to keep the humidity up?
i remember reading somewhere long ago (might have been these forums) that pietschmanni came from a relatively warmer and dryer environment than most other uroplatus, but i have still kept them the same way as any other species, around room temp with high humidity. would you say you keep them any dryer than normal, mad? i really want to have them in the right setup, and while they're perfectly healthy, i cannot get them to breed!
Waiting,

Well, I have taken a ton of pictures but you can barely see the little guys in them because the picture is so blurry. I just can't get the camera to focus. Once I can get some decent pictures I'll be sure to post them asap.
