vermeculite

is it safe to use vermeculite as a subtrate for a bci its only 7months old, i have been using aspen but was curious

It makes a fine medium for incubation, but I don't think I'd consider it for substrate for any snake.

I would research it to find out what chemicals are in it.. I believe I read somewhere that says it has some cancer causing agents in it, which would not make for a great bedding. Of course I could be wrong so just find out from a manufacturer.
