not really an answer to your Q but i have to ask:is it really nesescarry to live feed a monitor?Aren't they scavengers who are quite happy to eat a dead rodent that can't bite?

My monitor definily prefers live, he will sniff a thawed frozen and just kinda walk away live mice hegoes right afeter and will eat a ton mroe of, ive been trying to switch him over to frozens for some time now.

I have heard that Neosporin can be damaging to reptiles because it is petrolium based. I have found wounds in my monitors will heal fine on their own. As long as they have their normal choice of temps they should be fine. If it looks serious enough to be of concern take it to the vet.

Good luck

I don't like to use neosporin fro herps. I have tried it on a box turtle, sav moniotr and a few snakes. They all seemed to get worse, but once i let the wound dry without any neosporin it got better. I use betadine, on any scratches bites etc. on mine. They fare well with that.

Works great in the short term, but it over time builds up, reptiles bodies can not process the Petroleum products in it, and over time it can destroy thier kidneys(Have been told this by numerous Herp Vets, good ones, not your typical doggy vet)

The cream is water based and gets the meds there without the irritation of the petroleum nastiness that will sometimes slow the healing.

The one i boght b4 i read this stuff is, based with cocoa butter, cottonseed oil, olive oil, sodium pyrovate, tocopheryl, acetate, and white petrolatum. Is this stuff ok?

i am not sure about on monitors, but i have used neosporin to treat a cut on one of my uro's mouths and it didn't harm him at all, only helped.
