tamlin Feb 13, 2005 10:52 PM

i recently was given an adult female leo, and i just noticed that at the very tip of her toe there is a crusty green scab or formation. its very miniscule in apperance but it doesnt seem right. does anyone know if this is from shedding problems or an infection? also it has been 3 nights and she has no interest in food, any help?

Sometimes when a leo sheds, there toes dont loose all the skin and it can get caught. It sounds to me liek this has led to an infection. I don't know if this is related to none eating but if this keeps up, bring her to a vet and they might snip the toe off.

I have also heard of people doing this at there own house, snipping the toe off doesn't do much harm but may stress them out, a lot.

Maby you could post a picture.

WiteLeo is right, its probably from a bad shed, and now its infected. the green color sounds like bacterial infection.

BUT DONT SNIP THE TOE OFF! (*smacks WiteLeo!) Put Neosporin on it every day or twice a day until the scab falls off and ther toe end shows clean healed skin. The gecko might lose the toe tip but the Neosporin will (should) cure the infection and keep the loss to a minimum.

And about the eating, she might be still getting used to her new surroundings. If she doesnt start eating in a few days, or if she is already thin or has a thin tail right now, then she could be sick.
