BHR Press: Some say it with ...live turtles!

Feb 13, 2005 11:38 PM

GULF DAILY NEWS (Bahrain) 14 February 05 Some say it with ...live turtles! (Dalal Al Alawi)
Forget saying it with flowers - at least 50 people in Bahrain have shelled out on live turtles to show their Valentines how much they care.
There has been the usual rush for bouquets, soft toys and chocolates, but the more adventurous are getting the message across with turtles, with their loved one's name written on the shell in waterproof silver and gold!
Live love birds in a cage, or a bouquet accompanied by a bowl of fish, are also novel ways of saying those three magic words: "I Love You."
One lucky husband will be getting a BD250 bouquet of roses from a devoted wife, said Nawal Flowers owner Nawal Al Sabbagh.
"The arrangement was ordered from a woman to her husband and included chocolates and red lights," said.
"The most unusual Valentine gifts we sold were live turtles. in which the name of the person receiving the gift is written on their shells. "The turtles went by really fast and we've sold all 50 of them."

That's kind of stupid, to me, probably not to the business though. How long until the waterproof writing would wash off? What kind of turtles were used? Red eared sliders?
