How does a gravid Woma act?

rudedogsurfrat Feb 14, 2005 10:38 AM

I've got a questionable gravid female. I put them together once in October.
She's seemed to get fatter and does not eat.
Do gravid woma's not eat?

I also have a pair that definitely bred in october. My female just shed after a very long period being opaque and I will try to feed her later today. Sometimes she looks fat, sometimes I think the opposite. I can't feel anything when I run my hand down her belley so who knows. My male ignores her now too so I just don't know what to think. If I find anything out I will let you know. I wanted to produce these guys so bad this year....still hoping I do but it's not looking good Tom Stevens

She hasn't eaten in months but seems to be getting fatter anyway. I'm no expert at palpation, but I think I can palpate some ovalish objects along the bell.

As of right now she has ignored her food for a good 2 hours. She has not eaten in at least 6 weeks. Sometimes she seems like she is puffing out when she is laying relaxed, meaning I am not sure if she is even awake but it's as if she is puffing herself out and appearing wider than usual? She seems spread out on her warm spot when she is sitting still...but when she goes for a crawl she looks much thinner and appears ot be running on an empty stomach? I don't feel anything when I try to feel for eggs but sometimes it appears as if she has bumps in her like gravid snakes show? My guess is she is not gravid and I am in denial LOL. I did see tons of courting and one copulation in fall so her being off feed makes me wonder. Only time will tell, though I think most people will guess she is not gravid. Regardless I love these Womas, they're great snakes. Tom Stevens
