Just wanting to clear up a few things.

This is in response to some assumptions made on this forum regarding the care and maintenance of reptiles at our facility.
I posted it where it belongs, But that thread seems to be forgotten about.

Thanks to all that are concerned about the health and safety of my animals. Obvoiusly none of you bothered to inquire about the housing of my animals, but rather with a picture decided you know how things are done here. First, I do feed rodents and insects to my animals, not dog food, Don't know exactly how that came out of a picture of a monitor in front of a rack system, Second, I do not have the need for large inside cages. Given our nice central Fl weather, I can keep animals outside most of the year getting natural sunshine.Since the weather gets down in the 40's in central Fl at night this time of year, My animals cannot stay outside year round day and night. I wish they could. At Night, and on Extremely cold days they must come inside and stay in heated racks. I feel that the animals get the perfect mix of natural sunshine and heat at night that they need to stay healthy and happy.

Please, There are some of us doing a great jog supplying healthy animals to those that are looking for a geat animal, at a good price. lets all try to put the BAD guys out of business together but use some restraint when labeling someone or some company just because of a picture. When you see something you are not sure of, please ask instead of making assumptions, and otherwise throwing mud at someone or their business in a public forum that may be doing nothing wrong. If you are dissatisfied, well then at least you can make an educated post based on facts.
Feel free to call if there are any other concerns you wish me to clear up.
Thanks

Its awesome that you guys import such quality monitors, now if you’d export across border, then id be really impress. Just love those Kaiser island timors.

Just my opinion but I see many advantages to temporarily holding monitors in rack system, sense of security, monitoring, individuality, when supplied with heat tape it’s a very acceptable way to keep them till sold, cant say this about glass tanks witch stresses monitors. keep up the good work.

Steeve,

Here you are supporting rack systems for monitors, meanwhile a couple of weeks ago, you were badmouthing them...saying that it is a step away from breeding monitors like chickens...

"Breed em like chickens right!
You do realise that this will lead to monitors being breed like snakes in rack system.
You stink my friend big time!"

"When reproduction is artificial then natural stimuli are obsolete, this leading to sterile husbandry, glass, plastic, rack system, without anything to relate to! An organism loses its primer identity and changes to adapt.
Eventually we will make them to mans liking!"

So what's your stand on it, because your views are conflicting and contradicting.... And what's the deal with posting the same picture and claiming two different scenarios, as I pointed out the other day about your beccarii?? WHich one is the truth???

You sure are a funny individual...

cheers,

Bob

Importers should keep animals different then private keepers. There are many many reasons for this. They job is to get a reptile from point A to point B. as quickly as possible, without killing it and holding stress to a minimum.

With reptiles, heating them up is not a good thing. It increases their metabolism, depleting their reserves. For transport, you want them to be hibernating or in a conservation mode.

They should keep them in neutral conditions, that they have control of. Please consider, 15 baby croc monitors in a nice big cage with lots of hiding places. Hmmmmmmmmm Throw in some roaches man. Many would simply disappear and die.

Do you think they are going to house them all seperately in wonderful cages. For a day? two days? If that was to happen, there would not be enough room in S. Fla.

I know I would rather obtain an individual monitor from an importer that was kept singly in neutral conditions, then one that was in a cage with many others and kept hot. DESEASE FACTOR 12

Maybe a way to think of it is, in a plastic box is like in a hole. They are not exposed to stress from other monitors, or deseases from other monitors, or being dehydrated, etc. Of course, they should not be there for longs periods of time.

Of course its another story all together, if the importer has to keep them for long periods of time. I would not want that individual monitor. Would you? Thanks FR
