Lizzard Litter~ good or bad?

DivaDeb Feb 14, 2005 03:18 PM

Is Lizzard Litter a good bedding to use? Its made of crushed wallnut shells or something. Commonly sold at pet stores.
Does anyone recomend good bedding for African Fat tail and baby Leopard gecko's? I hear sand is bad news.
Help!!
Debra

Are you referring to the desert blend Lizard Litter (there are a few kinds)? It's made of ground English walnut shells, and yes, it claims to be 100% digestible, but I wouldn't use it just to be on the safe side, especially if it's for juvies. These companies make many claims just to sell a product, and most of them are NOT 100% safe for your little ones. Sand is definitely NOT good for juvies, your best bet would be tile or paper towel. Paper towel can be changed on a regular basis, but this could cause stress for them, tile is awesome because it wipes clean, conducts heat from the UTH nicely and looks good. If your leos are adults, sand is really a matter of personal preference, just be sure to do lots of reading on this subject and know your husbandry. And if you do go with sand, make sure it's a playground sand..definitely not one of these calcium sands that also claim to be safe - as I have learn!
Good luck
