The only amelanistic rough earth snake ever reported, the only one in captivity.

The albino is in a container with a normal phase rough earth snake, see the quarter for size reference.

. . .does it have red eyes? I love seeing amelanistic/albino specimens of species I would not consider to be such. Thanks for sharing!

I seem to recall that the snake was found with some others? In your posts, I'm seeing two snakes (1 normal, 1 albino).

You think they're related? You thinking about a breeding program?

Hey man,

Yeah the albino was found with 4 normals under the same rock in a person's garden, around Houston, Texas. Just from the sizes of the snakes, I am assuming that they are not related, but there is no way of telling. The albino is by far the smallest of all of them, and he won't be able to breed until next spring, when all of the others will be breeding this year.

In the pics, I only put 1 normal with the albino because the albino is actually extremely terrified of the others. Also, from what I observed when putting all 4 normals together in the same small container, the males will stand their ground against anything, they would just freeze in place for more than 3 hours and literally not move at all.

This year I am only making an effort to grow the albino more, and to breed the normals. But yes, this is a breeding project and it has already begun.
