Website for Orchids?

maxwells Jul 07, 2003 10:57 AM

Hello –

I am putting together another vivaruim, and was wondering if anyone has a suggestion on a website to order orchids?
My last one came from Home Depot, and is doing fine. I am just looking for a little variety, and since I have a new display terrarium that I am converting for my D. Tinc OleMari. Something really showy and different might be nice.

Thank you, in advance!

I bought some miniature species of orchids for my viv from a place called "Andy's Orchids". When I ordered, the individual I spoke with was eager to help and seemed to be very knowledgeable on the subject. They even called a couple weeks after I received my order to make sure everything arrived in good condition.
Also, at the top of the webpage, there's a menu with a "power search" where you can enter a combination of plant size, light/temperature requirements, etc., and a list of species will be displayed which come closest to your search options.

I just wanted to say that I also got exceptional service and plants from Andy's orchids. I spoke to him before purchasing and he understands the unique environments for vivaria. Moreover, he seems to specialize in miniatures -- not something you see much of at other sites. Incidentally, in my case also he called to make sure the plants were delivered in good shape.

Try J & L Orchids. I've had great luck with them. Healthy plants and great service.

HI,

Another vote for Andy's Orchids...I buy almost all my mini orchids from Andy (his brother Harry is great too)...Andy knows frogs, the conditions they live in and has only ever recommended one orchid that did not do well in my tanks. And that could have been some parameter I did not have right...high quality plants and I would not go anywhere else. I took a tour of his greenhouses...all I could say as I walked around the zillions of orchids was "WOW"!
