Pietschmanni pictures and a question

Mad_1234 Feb 14, 2005 09:20 PM

Here are some pictures of my hatchling Spiny leaf tails and my adult female who is gravid. I don't know if you can tell from the picture buy my babies tails are kind of shiveled up and have been this way since hatching. The tail is just curled in on it self. I thought it might be from dehaydration but I spray them I ton. They have been eating and are very active. What could be wrong?

Matt nice gex...I like them a lot..I wish someday I can get some hatchlings from mine..

Are the corks' skin very textured, it appears that way. Textured, I mean bumpy like a toad's skin..

Just wondering.

yea, its part of their camouflage and part of the reason theyre also called spiny leaftails because they have bumps all over their dorsum and tiny spine-like scales running along their sides. very very textured!

and i would say that the curling of the tail might be normal for hatchlings, i know it took a while for the tails of my phantasticus to fill out, even after their first shed. i would say you might expect it to be more full when they reach the 1 month mark.

It's not uncommon for hatchling Uroplatus tails to take a little while to "unbundle" (stay folded on themselves)... In is the case; if the process takes too long I will intervene and very carefully use some water and tweezers to "unravel" it for them...
