hatchling/juvenile question

Anubis Jul 07, 2003 11:18 AM

My Sav finally started a rodent diet today and gobbled down a pinky and a bunch of crickets. He's about 12 inches and I was wondering how often I shold give hime a pinky I had been feeding him worms and crickets supplemented on Miner-all everyday since I had him. So should I give him pinkies everyday now or maybe a couple of times a week? what do you all do?

I have always fed crickets for a couple months, then switched to all rodent/chick diets. At that size you could alternate insect/rodent days or just go with the mice everyday. My little girl grew much better with mice

Feed him frozen/thawed small mice every other day w/ insects in between. My sav is nearly a year now and he only grew about 7 inches in his last 6 months w/ me, why, because I only fed him insects. I changed his diet to thawed mice every other day w/ insects in between and he is getting bigger already and he is much buffer too. I measured him today, hes 15 inches. Your monitor will grow quicker than mine since you feed yours rodents, I just started but my monitor will catch up to the others. I would say definately feed yours thawed small mice, he should be ready.
