Peruvian Rainbow Boas

Jeff Clark Feb 14, 2005 11:10 PM

These are some of my Peruvian Rainbow Boas, Epicrates cenchria gaigei. The orangish one closest to the camera and the larger darker one above it are sisters. These two females are both between 6.5 and 7 feet long. The prettier smaller red-orange PRB further back in the picture is a younger unrelated male. I have another male that is the brother of the two big females and another smaller female that is the sister of the male in this PIC. I hope to get these two females bred by this unrelated male this year. The larger female was apparently bred by her brother last year and produced a large pile of infertile slugs. Brother-sister pairings with snakes do not usually cause problems though repeated inbreeding for several generations should probably be avoided. The diet pepsi can was placed in the PIC for size reference.

My response is most likely too far down the page to get noticed, but those are IMO the most impressive of the epicrates....I hope you produce lots of them.......
