My shipping costs range from 21.00(in florida) all the way to 85.00-95.00
A 7 foot boa in a apropriate sized box weighs alot and the dimensions are greater as well, thus alot more expensive as moist companies charge mostly by dimensional weight over actual weight.
UPS if it has dimensions of 12x12x12 or less than it is usually about 30.00-35.00
Anything that is over that is mostly charged dimensionally.
I ship a baby boa in a 11x8x9 box or a 12x9x6 box and it is 30-35.00
A regular fish box via any carrier , and 10lbs or less I get charged on average 60-75.00, even if the box is only 1 lb

I also get a 30% discount for voume via fed ex, thus it helps and I pass the savings tot he customer, but UPS and the lie it averages out to about 60-70.00 for 16x16x8 or 17x17x10 which is the regular size fish box that you seee used quite often.

Alot of dealers or wannabe dealers for that matter,
charge 35.00 for shipping, alot are amatuers thus do not know the real costs.....when they get the bill, they are dumbfounded....
Some though, with a bit more experience include the extra 25-30 in the price of the snake and say 35 for shipping, when in reality it is 65.00. Others like me offer the animals at a cost of XXXX.XX with free shipping. I usually only do this when the profit margin is wider or atleast workable and the price is so good that w/free shipping it is still a better price than competition because the competition has to charge for shipping since they dont include it and even a 20.00 difference can make a difference.

Tim,
...To get smaller styrofoam lined shipping boxes go to http://www.reptilepackaging.com/ and order some of their boxes. The 12x9x7 works great for shipping one to four little snakes. Most of the shipping companies will ship this box across the country with next AM delivery for around $40. Shorter distances get lower rates and so many of us charge $35 for shipping. If you are shipping bigger snakes in large boxes like the 17x17x10 standard fish and reptile box it can get expensive.
Good luck,
Jeff
