My female laid her third clutch jan. 27 and I put her alone to give her a break for awhile. She has been with no males since laying her last clutch, but now she is pregnant! So what's goin on?? Do they retain sperm or just keep producing eggs that are infertile?? thanks. -Joe

In short: Females may continue to lay eggs after being separated from males. Generally it's only one or two more clutches.
