hi

i have had an iguana for like almost a year and we thought it was a male...but he/she hasnt been eating for the last 2 months or so..we just though it was breeding season but we woke up this morning and there was like 30 eggs at the bottom of the cage so could they be fertile because they are really soft and i was not expecting this at all..so any help would be aprriciated.

She was lucky to lay those eggs without complications. She needs a vet visit for a quick x-ray to check for retained eggs, which are fatal.

Unless she had access to a mature male, those eggs are infertile. If they could be fertile, freeeze them and toss them out. Egging is the downside of keeping female iguanas.

Just a few posts down I posted that my iggy was not eating. Just a few bite a couple of times a day. Now I am wondering if this is what I am going to expect. I don't have a problem with it either way (eggs or no eggs), but I will be happy when he/she starts eating again.

How long does it take an iguanna to produce eggs?? More importantly, how long does it take from the time that the male and female "get together" till the time the egg is produced?? I have had mine since the end of November/ beginning ofDecemeber and got it from a pet store.

I guess basically the question is, how long is the whole reproductive cycle??

Thanks
