Is the hunger strike over...

CJBianco Feb 15, 2005 03:51 PM

Both my Heterozygous Piebald females have been on a hunger strike since mid-December, and they started slowing down in mid-November.

For the last week or so, both have been hunting a lot...even in the daytime. I offered my smaller girl a small rat last week, but she still refused.

Then today I was checking all the cages. My smallest Het Pied girl had taken a HUGE stool...right in the middle of her cage. (I never knew she could even hold that much.) Now she's out hunting again. I have a feeling the hunger strike may finally be over. And just in time, too. She's only 545 grams now. =(

Too bad my Rodent Pro shipment doesn't arrive until the 24nd. I guess an extra week of hunting will only make her that much more hungry...right? =)

Good Things,
Chris =)

... or at least not for all of us! I never have a large surge in feeding responses until at least the middle of March. You know how it works... we all live in different climates and everyone has different results. Out of about 200-250 balls I have about 100-150 that are feeding right now. I have males that feed while breeding and small females from last year's hatch that are not. Go figure... I guess that is just the path we have chosen. Sometimes Boas and Corns make me feel better...

Oh well... good luck!
