# of eggs per clutch question

flamedcrestie Feb 15, 2005 03:52 PM

how often do you end up with 1 fertile egg being laid by a female? i've had 3 clutches of 2 eggs from this female, then all of the sudden she laid 1 egg. looks like it is definately fertile and was buried. i'm not worried about it but was just curious as to how often this may happen.

One of my geckos did this once no biggie I think it is just due to a shortage of sperm or calcium so so instead of using all she has to make two crappy eggs she uses all she has to make one good egg.

I've always gotten 2 eggs at a time, but every once in awhile, 1 egg will go bad quite obviously and early-on.. Hey Andrew, please tell me who or what xtreme is where you got the exaggerated-crest geckos. I've tried to email you thru this forum but cannot get a response so it might not be working.

www.xtremereptiles.com
they do more wholesale stuff for pet stores and larger orders. however they have no minimum order and have excellent prices. i've mainly ordered leaftail geckos from them.
i ordered these as juveniles with no signs of larger crests so they may not be able to help you out there. but if you wanted to buy 6 or 7 from them you may end up with a couple.
if you have any more questions my email is mylude90@gmail.com
i tried emailing you as well and it probabl didn't work.

Thanks so much! The email did reach me but I don't have a computer at home, so if I'm not at work (which I am partially laid off from) or in the library, as I am now, I can't receive email or log onto the internet. I was informed by a breeder friend of mine that they don't breed cresteds, that largely they buy from Sandfire! And here I was hoping to contact someone who is deliberately breeding for larger crests! Thanks for trying to help me, I do appreciate it!
