ok here we go... d3 is good, but to much is bad. like most people keep a dish of non D3 calc in there tank. and they will dust there criz or mealies with calci with d3 every other feeding or so. the gecko uses d3 for something to do with the digesting the calcium or something to that effect.

Prime whats up with the attitude man? Thats not too nice considering you've asked a lot of question worst than this one this past month, but i havn't seen a d3 related post in a long time. So don't act like this guys question is stupid when you couldn't answer it fully. D3 is a vitamin that allows reptiles to process calcium to prevent bone disease. You should use a calcium supplement that contains the vit. D3 every 2-3 feedings.
The problem people have with D3 is that it hasn't been proven thaat leo's can absorb it orally, and there is a possibility of overdoseing.

I have no beef with you at all. The way you worded it, it made it sound as if you were disgusted with the question from seeing it over and over and over again.
But it is kind of irritating when people say what they have heard from another post without the expierence or research about the topic. Sort of like the whole issues with the pet stores, they see 4 perfectly healthy geckos in a 10 gallon cage, but they are ignorant enough to believe what ever the first person says, and what the first person says is usually what him or her has heard and that is how those dumb rumors get spread. What people dont realize is that they are a pet store, that is a temporary home. They are usually there for about a week or week and a half and that won't kill them, again, it is just a temporary home and the gecko will be supplied with a better home some time soon. This has happened with a lot of discussions, the one that occurs the most is sand, they usually have no expierence with it nor have done any research about. They hear that if the gecko is just on sand it will get impacted. Little do they know, that it isn't the sand that impacts them, it is the husbandtry of the owner.

While leos do need an occasional dosing of D3, I wouldn't use it more than twice a week or so. And anything you leave in the cage 24/7 should be withOUT D3.
