Warming up my breeders

Passport Feb 15, 2005 06:38 PM

I tried brumating my adults this year outdoors under my patio. I live in Louisiana so it's not like North Dakota or someplace. However, we have certainly had a lot of cold weather.....even dipping down into the 20's at night. I used large tubs with DEEP aspen bedding, water bowls and covered the tubs with foam blankets for darkness and insulation. I checked on them a couple times to make sure that they were still living and had water. Last week I moved them back into the snake building and have been checking on them regularly. So far I've seen nothing to indicate illness or any sort. They look fat and happy. It was so much easier for me this year than last because I kept them inside and tried to keep it dark enough and cool enough for them. I'll post again when breeding really gets going. Anyone else brumate this way?
