Feeding pre-killed

happymidgetpaul Feb 15, 2005 06:49 PM

I have a mangrove monitor around 2', and he eats crickets and mice and fish eagerly, but when I try to give him pre-killed, he just ignores it, and it goes bad, does anyone know a good and fairly simple way to get him to eat pre-killed mice?

I tried one pre-killed and mine didn't seem interested. So i took a live one and dangled him by his tail in his cage, and then did the same for the PK'd. He immediately tore it apart. Just a little trick, buy he enjoyed it. I would let the mice run around the cage, they don't have their eyes open yet so they run into everything, but i'm expecting my son soon and my gf has the notion he will try to bite our sons hands off.
