last question I promise: escaped!!

I've owned snakes for 4 years now and think I've officially had my first escapee. I went to clean and feed my 14 hatchlings and when all the boxes were back together I did my roll call and found I was missing one!! I just got back from 4 day weekend and don't know if he/she escaped then or today while I was cleaning/moving everyone around...

tore apart my room and found nothing but was wondering if a dead hatchling tends to smell bad once it dies?

if so, my parents are going to kill me...

I might try some of the techniques I've read about here on these forums but doubt seriously the little guy will ever be found

I have my first hatchlings (kingsnakes) this year, and found that the little devils are MASTER escape artists. I'd bought a hatchling rack for them, only to find they could slide right out of them without a backward glance. Lost two before I could sneeze... luckily one landed in an empty garbage can, and the other slithered up later that day. Then I just put the lids on the sterilites, thinking the rack was garbage, only to have TWO MORE go missing the next time I looked. One was found, and one is still at large. So even though I'm not fond of deli cups as an actual cage, I've got the remaining hatchlings in deli cups, in the rack. Luckily the two that were found were easily identified, and I'm hoping that I'll find the otheer one soon. We're moving in 2 weeks, so hopefully if I don't find it before then, I'll find it while cleaning out the whole house.

Gets darn frustrating!
