Hey, I was wondering...every time I feed my iguana ( I hand feed him by the way since he is only a hatching and doesnt have sharp teeth yet... ) but every time i feed him and he gets full his eyes literally bulge out of his head! I have no clue why it does this. But it is everytime. The first couple of bite his eyes are normal then after like 3 minutes they start to change.. then after like 5-6 they are really bulging and then he wont take anymore bites since he is full. does anyone's iguana's eyes do this??? it's really odd actually. i would say it is normal because it doesnt look like like anything is wrong.. but just double checking.. thanks.

When your ig is 5 feet long are you going to be willing to hand feed him several times a day? now is the time to break that habit. if something happens and you get sick or hurt nobody else is going to be accepted by the iguana to hand feed him and he will go hungry. chop his food up very finely and put them on a paper plate. I guarantee the both of you will be more happy that way. hand feed for meds and a treat but its gonna be a booger to get him to start feeding on his own.

Yea, I agree with not really hand feeding him too much. I only hand feed my ig treats, otherwise I know he would get too lazy and expect me to feed him instead of feeding himself. Iguanas are creatures of habit, and they don't really like any type of change.

And I know what you mean by the eye bulging thing. My ig does that when he wakes up from a nap. I'm not sure why they do that.

Some igs learn to bulge their eyeballs to loosen old eyelid shed. I agree with the other post, in that your iguana should soon learn to eat off a plate. You won't be able to feed him enough by hand after awhile.

It's perfectly normal. My iguana does it when she's itchy.
