Definitely a BT, though the ventral scales, I saw posted elsewhere, indicate some Uni influence, due to the checkering, but this is common, as the two ssp. integrate where their ranges overlap.
I just cannot get over that post ecdysis color change, though it could be the photo, as I have yet to see any of mine go that dark during ecdysis..
Nice looking fellow you have there!

Best regards,

Jeff

Jeff,

The shed was very nasty too. It came off in chunks. Once he got started and coulnd't finish I had to put him in a damp pillow case over night. Even at that, I had to peel some of it off my self. The shed skin was very dark looking too. I wonder what the deal on that is.

Sounds as though your guy may have incurred repetitive ecdysis, where they go into the multiple times prior to shedding. This normally occurs with specimens which have incurred some form of dermal injury, or females, prior to depositing eggs.
Also, cool temperatures and dry air will contribute to such difficulties regarding ecdysis. Always try to increase the humidity, or at least add a humidity chamber to the enclosure, during ecdysis.
All in all, it sounds as though you handled the situation like a veteran, keep up teh great work...

Best regards,

Jeff

I just got the snake 2 weekends ago at the Kentucky Reptile Expo in Louisville, KY. He was pretty much like that when I got him. The extremely dark pictures that I posted here before were taken on the day that I got him. He looked almost black! Since I know he had a hard time shedding I will take your advice and keep my eye on the humidity. Thanks

John, I had the Cribo for 6 months and he never had any problems shedding....all his sheds were in one piece. It seems weird to me that all these problems with him arise when you have him, but none were present when I had the animal (nose rub, bad shed).

Weird indeed that they were evident from my first set of pics which were taken Saturday evening on the day that I got him. LOL, no worried mate, nobody is "accusing" you of anything. No need for you to be so paranoid. heh heh heh! I'm just happy that he started looking like a blacktail after all.

The snake did not have a nose rub when it came out of the bag I had it in at the show. The nose rub showed up AFTER you received the animal not before.

I may be wrong, but it sure sounds like you've been doing lots of complaining which may or may not be consciencious.

It sounds like to me you have a chip on your shoulder. Nobody is saying anything bad about you. It is true that I turned out not being happy with the snake at first, but that's not your fault. I admit here and now that you were fair and honest in our dealings and I would buy from you again any time. The snake has been growing on me day by day and now I'm fairly happy with him.

No chip on the shoulder here. Thanks for clearing things up John.

I think its an interesting looking snake. But I can't help but wonder about the explanation of it's origin: from a local breeder "whose name I can't remember"? But from stock you do remember? But turns out not to be true...

It is most curious.

If Jesus is your co-pilot, you're probably delusional

I never got the name of the vendor I purchased the animal from.....it was at the local herp show, and I have not seen that particular vendor since I bought the Cribo last year. If I saw the guy again, I'd know him.....but I did not get his name.

sbogill, what temps are you keeping him at? nose rubs/bad shed usually equal too warm. cribos prefer cool over warm any day......
