Boelens Problem!!

NickRB Feb 15, 2005 09:32 PM

Hello Everyone,
My female baby boelens python has a problem. She has developed what apear to be cuts on her skin. Boelens pythons do have very sensitive skin and she did have barkchip as a substrate but she shed tonight and I put down paper instead. She is spending alot of time in her water bowl also. She is currently in a vision model 400 and the temp and humidity are fine. Any one have any advice on what it could be, and what I should do? I will be taking her to the vet if they get worse. Thanks
Nick

check your cage from stem to stern, it sounds like a burr or something might have caused it. I doubt wood chips would lacerate your snake but then I dont know exactly how sensitive a boelens skin is, seems more likely that there is a small spur of plastic or a sharp edge that is the culprit. Soaking alot in the water dish, could be normal or she could be telling you something. Good luck, I think they are really beautiful snakes.
