Fimbriatus question for a set up

coolcritter Feb 16, 2005 05:12 AM

Hi, I am going to be getting a trio of fimbriatus I have a pvc cage that is 18 deep 4'long and 3' high.
Being pvc would it be benificial to cover the inside walls with coco fiber panels ? also what types of plants would be best ?
I have a misting system hooked up and I plan on putting a drain in the cage. I am sure I will have more questions but this is a start
Thanks, Jim Scharphorn

Are you picking up the trio that Michael Cole is selling?

I wont buy WC Uroplatus from anyone but Michael Cole. People who care about the animals, and who care about the buyer are the only ones that should be making any money on them, not the big online stores that cant deliver customer service to save their life, and a "you get what you get" attitude.

All of his animals are really nice, he will send you exactly what you want, and is very good about communicating. I've bought from him alone for the last 2 years.

Yes , the ones that are bit beat up.
What do you think about using the coco fiber panels to line the inside of my pvc cage ?

You certainly could use cork panels to cover it. The fimbriatus might appreciate the extra texture as opposed to straight PVC.

I'll be interested to see the setup once it is done. I really like the design of your cages and always thought they would be great for gecko cages.

yea i dealt with michael cole once and even though something went wrong, he was by far the easiest man to work it out with that i've dealt with when buying uroplatus. i would not hesitate to do business with him again, if it werent for the fact i cant afford more right at the moment.

Was good to work with, I was a bit leary and now I can rest. My temps are to cold to ship and he is going to hold them for me.

I've had one experience w/ Michael Cole, and sorry to say, I don't have the glowing recomendation Leah has. I acquired a 1.1 phant and when they arrived the female had a raging mouth infection. I immediately sent him a photo and a note detailing my displeasure (to say the least). Initially, he maintained that the infection had to have sprung up en route, but having worked in veterinary diagnostics (bacteriology in particular) for the past year, I laid the "b.s. card". He did rectify by sending my another female (FOC), and unfortunately, the first female died. Oh yeah, the male is a juvie, also a surprise when I opened the box. He's doing great, and has already molted twice. I can't say that he screwed me, b/c he did fix the problem, but I won't be doing business w/ him anytime soon.

I 've spoken with him a few times and I really like his attitude. I can say I know he cherry picks his animals. I may actually take him up on the next shipment of animals that come in, I need a few individuals to finishing up my pairings. His sources are decent to say the least, I've used a one of his sources in the past and can only give so-so response about them, but because Michael cherry picks he always has the best stock. Anywho, I'm going to try and finish up some pairs of fimbs through him if possible. I'm a bit saturated on most others at the moment. I'm one female short from evening those out.

Leah, anything dropping eggs right now for you?

cheers
Jason
